Woman Arrested for Pouring Boiling Water on Man During Dispute

The Hackensack Police Department announces the arrest of Evelyn Sampson (DOB: 8/31/61, unemployed) of Hackensack on several criminal charges related to a criminal investigation.

On May 15, 2024, police officers responded to an apartment complex on Lehigh Street following a report of an assault. A 69-year-old male reported that he was involved in a dispute with the defendant, identified as Evelyn Sampson. During the dispute, the victim reported that she dumped boiling water on him. The victim was treated and transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Sampson was arrested without incident and transported to police headquarters.

As a result of the investigation, Evelyn Sampson was charged with second-degree aggravated assault (N.J.S.A 2C:12-1b(1)) and third-degree possession of a weapon (N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4d). Sampson was processed and transported to the Bergen County Jail on a complaint warrant pending her first appearance at Central Judicial Processing court in Hackensack, NJ. These charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
