The Department of Building, Housing, and Land Use administers and enforces ordinances related to development, building, housing, land use, and infrastructure. It is comprised of three divisions: Building Inspection, Property Maintenance, and Community Development. The Department also serves as the administrative arm of several boards, including the Planning Board, the Zoning Board of Adjustment, and the Rent Stabilization Board. The Department’s responsibilities include zoning, property maintenance, planning, engineering, and construction permit inspections.
