The City Of Hackensack

Office of Special Operations Command

The Hackensack PD Special Operations Command comprises personnel with highly specialized training, expertise, and equipment, primarily focusing on two main units: Drone and Emergency Services Unit (ESU). Our dedicated officers are equipped to support various operations alongside other Hackensack PD units.

Our department members undergo rigorous training and are frequently cross-trained in multiple disciplines to ensure they are well-prepared for any situation they may encounter. HACSOC is ready to respond to a variety of incidents, including but not limited to barricaded perpetrators, emotionally disturbed persons, waterborne incidents, searches for missing individuals or suspects, execution of search warrants, as well as handling public disorder events and major disasters.

Furthermore, the ESU within the Special Operations Command plays a crucial role in conducting checks of soft and hard targets, ensuring the security of key locations within our community. Additionally, ESU conducts “Run, Hide, Fight” training for various organizations, empowering them with the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively in emergency situations.

Additionally, the Special Operations Command oversees HPD members who are also assigned to the Regional SWAT Team, Rapid Deployment Force, and Rapid Deployment Team, enhancing our ability to address a wide range of situations and maintain the safety and security of our community.

Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Deployment:
Our Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) initiative employs skilled pilots to deploy cutting-edge drones, providing strategic and tactical insights into ongoing critical events. This technology is designed to enhance situational awareness, reduce injuries or fatalities, and facilitate the more efficient handling of diverse public safety and law enforcement situations. The UAS plays a vital role in advancing our capabilities, ensuring a swift and effective response to emerging challenges.

FEMA National Preparedness
At our core, we are dedicated to upholding the five fundamental goals outlined by FEMA. Prevention remains paramount as we actively work to prevent, avoid, or halt any imminent, threatened, or actual acts of terrorism. Our commitment to protection extends to safeguarding all citizens, residents, visitors, and assets, ensuring that our way of life thrives amidst the greatest threats and hazards. Mitigation efforts are aimed at minimizing the loss of life and property, thus mitigating the impact of future disasters. In times of crisis, our rapid response is geared towards saving lives, protecting property, and preserving the environment. Finally, our dedication to recovery underscores our focus on the timely restoration, strengthening, and revitalization of infrastructure, housing, and the economy, alongside nurturing the social, cultural, and environmental well-being of affected communities.
