Man Charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault & Attempted Aggravated Sexual Assault

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 33-year-old CARLOS L. SIBRI of Hackensack, NJ on charges of aggravated sexual assault and attempted aggravated sexual assault. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, and the Hackensack Police Department, under the direction of Chief Michael Antista.

On Sunday, December 17, 2023, Hackensack University Medical Center contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Hackensack Police Department regarding a patient who arrived at the hospital seeking medical care after an alleged sexual assault. A joint investigation was initiated by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the
Hackensack Police Department. After months of continuous investigation, detectives determined that CARLOS L. SIBRI sexually assaulted the victim in Hackensack, NJ between December 16, 2023, and December 17, 2023.

As a result of the investigation, on Friday, March 7, 2025, CARLOS L. SIBRI was arrested in Paramus, NJ and charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(7a); and first-degree attempted aggravated sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1a(1)/2C:14-2a(7a). SIBRI was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court
in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Hackensack Police Department and the New Jersey State Police for their assistance in this investigation.
