On Friday, December 15, the City of Hackensack graduated four outstanding individuals from the Bergen County Police Academy, stepping into their roles as Full-Time Officers. The regal ceremony, held at the Felician College in Lodi, celebrated the dedication and achievements of many destined for long and prosperous law enforcement careers in the neighboring jurisdictions throughout Bergen County.
Among these graduates were the following personnel from the Hackensack Police Department:
- Frank Lorenzo, Hackensack, NJ
- Laura Lopez-Amaya, Hackensack, NJ
- Andres Lopez, Hackensack, NJ
- Carmine Maceri, South Hackensack, NJ
In addition to these graduates, the City of Hackensack also announces the hiring of three new Full-Time members:
- Jems Peralta, Hackensack, NJ
- Juda DeOlivera, Morris Plains, NJ (former Class II Officer)
- Nicholas Mazzaccaro, Rutherford, NJ (former Class II Officer)
“On behalf of the men and women of the Hackensack Police Department, I want to extend my congratulations to all the Academy graduates and offer a special welcome to the new additions to our police force. They will surely have a tremendous impact on our ongoing efforts to maintain high standards of professionalism within the Hackensack Police Department,” said Police Director Raymond Guidetti.
These appointments further reflect the commitment of the Police Director to enhance the professionalism of the Hackensack Police Department and bolster its ranks with exceptional individuals dedicated to protecting and serving the community.
Of special note are siblings, Laura Lopez-Amaya and Andres Lopez, who have not only excelled in their journey but also share a unique bond as brother and sister. Both Hackensack natives, they attended local schools and were hired as Class I Special Officers in 2018. After taking the Civil Service exam, both achieved remarkable scores, securing positions in the top 5, right behind one another.
Sponsored in the police academy as Class II Special Officers, both Laura and Andres Lopez have demonstrated unwavering commitment and dedication throughout their training. Today, on their graduation day, they step into the roles of Full-Time Police Officers, further contributing to the safety and well-being of the residents of Hackensack.
