Hackensack City Council Honors Police Officers with Promotions

 At the most recent City Council meeting on Tuesday, December 10, Hackensack Police Chief Michael Antista promoted five members of the Police Department in a ceremony attended by family, friends, and community leaders. 

“These promotions recognize the exceptional dedication, bravery, professionalism, and leadership demonstrated by these officers every day throughout their careers,” said Chief Antista. “Their steadfast commitment to excellence and public safety has set a standard for the department, and I am confident they will continue to lead by example and make our entire community proud.”

The officers promoted were:

  • Captain James Smith – A 26-year veteran of the Hackensack Police Department.

  • Lieutenant John Dalton – Serving Hackensack for 17 years.

  • Sergeant Raymond Donnerstag – A 19-year law enforcement veteran, with eight years in Hackensack and prior service in East Orange.

  • Sergeant Stan Tovbin – A 21-year veteran, including eight years with Hackensack and prior service with the Bergen County Police Department.

  • Sergeant Ben Farhi – An 11-year veteran of the Hackensack Police Department.

“Each of you exemplifies the very best of what it means to serve and protect,”  added Hackensack Mayor John Labrosse. “We are grateful for your years of service and the countless hours of hard work, sacrifice, and dedication to keeping Hackensack safe. On behalf of the City of Hackensack, I thank you for your service and wish you continued success in your new roles.”
