The Hackensack Police Department announces the arrest of 42 year old Kenneth G. Chin of 38 Winant Avenue, Floor 2, Ridgefield Park, NJ for multiple weapons offenses following a shooting investigation conducted by Detective Demetrius Carroll and members of the Detective Bureau.
On March 16, 2026 at approximately 7:49 PM, an unknown person entered the driveway of a Hackensack residence on Broadway and fired one round of 9MM ammunition through an apartment window. No one was struck.
Investigation identified Chin as the suspect and, on 4/13/2026, members of Hackensack’s Emergency Services Unit arrested Chin in Jersey City while Hackensack detectives executed a search warrant at the Ridgefield Park residence. Detectives seized a Keltec Sub2000 semi-automatic carbine, an Sig Sauer P365 9MM pistol, and approximately 200 rounds of ammunition.
Kenneth G. Chin was criminally charged with 2C:39-4a(1)/Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose/2nd Degree, 2C:39-7(b)(1)/Certain Persons/2nd Degree, 2C:39-5b(1)/Unlawful Possession of a Weapon/3rd Degree, 2C:17-3(1)/Criminal Mischief/3rd Degree, and 2C:29-3b(1)/Hindering Apprehension/3rd Degree.
Chin was processed and remanded to the Bergen County Jail on a Complaint Warrant pending his first appearance at Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ. These charges are merely an accusation and each defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
The Hackensack Police Department extends appreciation for assistance to Bergen County Regional SWAT, Ridgefield Park PD, Jersey City PD, and to Bergen County Animal Control for securing Chin’s pitbull from the home.
