HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ MAN CHARGED WITH DISTRIBUTION AND POSSESSION OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE MATERIA

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 25-year-old MARIO H. KALDAS of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ on charges of distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer.

On Thursday, June 4, 2026, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of MARIO H. KALDAS during the course of an Internet child sexual abuse material investigation. The investigation revealed that KALDAS used the Internet to view, download, possess, distribute, and share items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit pubescent and prepubescent children.

As a result of the investigation, on Thursday, June 4, 2026, MARIO H. KALDAS was arrested and charged with second-degree distribution of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(a)(i); and third-degree possession of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(b)(iii). KALDAS was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella thanks the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department and New York City Police Department for their assistance in this case. Additionally, he thanks and recognizes the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, Hackensack Police Department, Hasbrouck Heights Police Department, Norwood Police Department, and Washington Township Police Department, which all participate in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force
