Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 52-year-old BRAULIO F. TORAL of Hackensack, NJ on charges of sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated criminal sexual contact, invasion of privacy, and criminal sexual contact. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, and the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Officer-in-Charge Michael Antista.

On Monday, June 17, 2024, the Hackensack Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged incident of invasion of privacy that had occurred in the past. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Hackensack Police Department revealed that BRAULIO TORAL had recorded the victim, without their consent, on numerous occasions, under circumstances in which one would not expect to be observed. The investigation also revealed that BRAULIO TORAL sexually assaulted a child on multiple occasions, beginning when the child was under the age of thirteen.

As a result of the investigation, BRUALIO TORAL was arrested in Paramus, NJ and charged with second-degree sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b; second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a; third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact, N.J.S.A. 14-3a; third degree invasion of privacy, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-9b(1); and two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, N.J.S.A. 14-3b. TORAL was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Hackensack Police Department, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, and the NJ Division of Child Protection and Permanency for their assistance in this investigation.
