Armed Robbery Suspect in custody

The Hackensack Police Department announces the arrest of Hudhaifa Johnson (DOB-12/27/1998, a security guard) of Hackensack New Jersey, on several criminal charges in reference to a robbery investigation. On November 25, 2024 at approximately 1230 A.M., Hackensack Police Officers responded to Fair Street near Lodi Street of a reported robbery. The victim, a 24 year old male from Monroe Township New Jersey, reported that he was approached by a male, who implied that he had a weapon, who relieved him of his jewelry and personal belongings. The suspect then fled the area on a moped. Officers checked the area with negative results, and turned over the investigation to Det. Matthew DeBonis. As a result of the investigation, Hudhaifa Johnson was criminally charged with Robbery / 2C:15-1a(3) (first degree crime), Possession of a firearm for unlawful purpose / 2C:39-4a(1) (second degree crime), and Certain Persons to not have weapons / 2C:39-7b(1) (second degree crime). At approximately 8:00 P.M. on the same date, Patrol Officer Roselys Salas and Angelo Vicale located Johnson on Essex Street and placed him under arrest. Johnson was in possession of proceeds from the original crime, as well as brass knuckles. Johnson was processed and transported to the Bergen County Jail on a complaint warrant pending his first appearance at Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ. These charges are merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. I would like to commend the Detective Bureau for their thorough investigation and our Patrol officers for the swift apprehension of Johnson without further incident.
