Revised Date for Electrical Outage: Monday, November 10, 2014
New Jersey's electric and gas infrastructure is on its way to becoming stronger, safer and more resilient thanks to PSE&G's Energy Strong Program. This $1.22 billion program will allow PSE&G to proactively protect and strengthen its electric and gas systems against severe weather damage like the state experienced during Hurricane Irene and Superstorm Sandy. As part of Energy Strong, we will be making changes to 29 electric substations that were damaged by water either due to excessive rainfall or a storm surge. ·
The River Edge substation, which currently serves your area, has been damaged by flooding in the past and eventually will be taken out of service. PSE&G will provide electricity from other facilities that will improve the reliability of your electric service during severe weather events. As part of this upgrade, PSE&G has been converting and upgrading the wires and other equipment that serve your area.
To conduct this upgrade, there will be a planned outage in your area on November 10th from 9:00·11:00 AM. Should the weather be inclement on this date, the outage will be rescheduled for November 12, 2014, from 9:00·11:00 AM. The interruption of electrical service may cause fire alarm or burglar alarm systems to operate.
If you subscribe to such a service, please notify the operators of the fire alarm system of this schedule. Additionally, please notify us if you have any emergency generation equipment in use.
For everyone's safety, PSE&G crews will be using work area protection including traffic cones, utility work signs, and barriers to allow the job to be done safely. The utility reminds motorists to slow down and follow detour signs when driving through the construction area.
