No Parking When Road is Snow Covered

Due to the heavy snowfall we have experienced we are asking that all residents abide by the City’s rules regarding on street parking. Those rules prohibit on street parking during our winter storm emergency.

Please take advantage of the free parking the city has provided which has been extended until 7AM Saturday. The locations of the lots are listed on the city website at Hackensack.org.

All vehicles that are parked on streets that are listed in the “Snow Emergency No-Parking Areas” under the City Code will be ticketed and towed. Please refer to Hackensack.org to view a complete listing of all city streets covered under this Code.

All residents are requested to park their vehicles in their driveways --- and to make any additional parking available to their neighbors or tenants until our Public Works personnel have plowed your street.

DPW personnel will be working around the clock to make our streets as safe as possible.

To accomplish the snow clean-up process your cooperation over the next 24-36 hours is essential. The entire city council and all DPW personnel want to thank you for your cooperation and patience during this winter storm emergency.

NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF HACKENSACK
John Labrosse Mayor

Parking Made Available for City Residents
(Offer Extended to 7am Saturday)
City Manager 201-646-3901
February 12, 2014

Hackensack, NJ -- To help move cars off of city streets so snow plows can more effectively clean roads in the aftermath of the coming snow storm, the city is making off-street parking available at three locations.

In a project dubbed “Parking without Penalty” City Manager Anthony Rottino said residents who do not have access to off-street parking can park their vehicles at the Lot C parking lot, which is located between East Salem Street Extension and Midtown Place, which is across from Foschini Park. Residents can also park at the M&M building lot at 116 Holt Street or the Atlantic Street parking garage on Atlantic Street between Main Street and State Street.

Rottino said parking will be available from 6 p.m. tonight to 7 a.m. Saturday on a first come first served basis. Anyone wishing to park in the Atlantic Street garage must have their vehicle there by 10 p.m. A police officer will assign parking at the Atlantic Street facility; there will be no assigned parking at the other locations.

“It is critical to the city’s ability to clean the streets to have as many cars as possible off the roadways,” said Rottino.

Mayor John Labrosse has asked that neighbors share driveways during the storm and that landlords allow tenants to use driveways until the streets have been cleared.

“If you have driveway space, I urge you to be a good neighbor and allow people to park in your driveway until the plows do their job,” said Labrosse.
