On Wednesday evening, Mayor John Labrosse, the City Council, Director of Redevelopment Albert Dib, and Marco Howington, VP of Public Relations and Governmental Affairs of Enburg Group delivered a donation of 16,000 masks to the city's Office of Emergency Management. The masks were donated by Enburg Group, Owner and developer of the high-rise development at 150-170 Main Street in downtown Hackensack.
"While the worst of the pandemic may now be over, it is vital that our city and first responders have a stockpile of PPE in the event of a second wave of the virus, said Mayor John Labrosse. "We thank Marco and the team at Enberg Group for their generous donation of this essential equipment. They've proven to be great community partners and major contributors to our city's redevelopment."
Established in 1978, Enburg Group started as a local food manufacturer in Southeast Asia. It has evolved into a multidimensional investment company that has branched out to encompass several industries, including real estate development. Enburg recognized Hackensack's growth potential and chose it to be the home of its first large-scale development project in the US.
"As the global pandemic continues to raise flags of uncertainty, it is strongly advised that people continue to follow proper CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid-19, said Marco Howington, VP of Public Relations and Governmental Affairs of Enburg Group. “While our first responders are working in the highest exposure environments and as Hackensack City Officials remain active in ensuring community safety standards, Enburg Group recognizes the importance of having access to necessary protective gear and is proud to contribute to their protection".
The Enburg group joins several other community organizations, businesses, and individuals in Hackensack who have donated essential equipment and materials to city agencies during this crisis. JC World Bell Wholesale made multiple mask donations to the Office of Emergency Management, and the Bergen Mask Task Force donated handmade reusable masks for different city first responders. Biogenesis produced and gave a large amount of hand sanitizer to city agencies. Others have stopped by with smaller donations of PPE.
"We've seen wonderful support from businesses and organizations here in our community, said Deputy Mayor Kathy Canestrino. “Their contributions to the community are a testament to what we are building here in this city.”
