Beginning Monday, December 9th, the City of Hackensack is offering free parking in all metered spots along Main Street and Anderson Street. Parking will remain free in this area through Christmas Day, December 25th.
“The holidays are a special time, and suspending metered parking Downtown is one of the ways we want to make life a little bit easier for residents and visiting shoppers,”
said Councilwoman Stephanie Von Rudenborg. “My council colleagues and the Mayor agree this is a nice way to thank Hackensack residents for shopping locally, and also drive business to our Downtown area.”
“We started having free parking Downtown during the holiday season a few years ago, and the response has always been positive,” said Councilman Leo Battaglia. “It’s good for business owners and residents alike, and think it’s important to remind them that we appreciate them being here, in Hackensack.”
Parking Meters will display a red cover or digital message saying, “HAPPY HOLIDAYS, FREE PARKING.”
To ensure there are enough parking spaces, the City is encouraging business owners and employees to park in their designated spots, leaving free metered parking spaces for customers.
