Hackensack Receives $840,000 Grant
for Improvements to Columbus and Staib Park
At Tuesday night’s meeting, the Hackensack City Council accepted $840,000 in Green Acres grant funding. The money is earmarked for improvements to Staib Park and Columbus Park.
“We are grateful to the NJDEP and the Green Acres Program for recognizing the need for park renovations that will improve recreation opportunities for thousands of residents,”
said Mayor John Labrosse. “This funding will allow us to renovate basketball courts at Columbus Park, restrooms and grounds at Staib Park, and resurface land where needed to expand recreation opportunities.”
The City Council also approved the application for a Bergen County Community Development grant for $415,000 for nearby road resurfacing.
The Green Acres Program was created by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection in 1961 to meet New Jersey's growing recreation and conservation needs
