New Playwrights Festival 

Defining Moments Theatre Company will be hosting their first New Playwrights Festival to say a farewell to Summer! The Festival will feature four original one act plays, two comedic works and two dramatic works, that have never been produced before. The festival gives writers the chance to see their ideas brought to life on the stage. After the commencement of select shows, there will be a brief Q and A with some of the writers. 
Come out for an evening dedicated to New Playwrights!!

Teaneck New Theatre (TNT) in association­ with The Hackensack Cultural Arts Center (HCAC) proudly continues its 30th anniversary season with The Graduate, based on the acclaimed movie by the same name.  Directed by Mac McCormick of  West Milford . The Graduate will be presented August 5 -21 at The Hackensack Cultural Arts Center, 39 Broadway, Hackensack, NJ. Curtain times are 8:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, and 3:00 PM on Sundays.

(Please note that The Graduate is for mature audiences only.) 

The story unfolds with the newly graduated Benjamin Braddock ( (Mitchell Epstein of North Caldwell) returning from college and in complete conflict as to what to do next with his life. He is approached by the longtime family friend, Mrs. Robinson (Lisa Dascoli of Little Falls) who tells him she's "available to him, at any time." However, after being set up on a date with the Robinson's daughter by Mr. Robinson (Adam Gelles of Waldwick), Benjamin finds himself falling for Elaine, (Jenna O'Brien of River Edge).

Rounding out this top notch cast are Michelle Womack of Wayne and Zach Abraham of Highland Park as the Braddocks. Benjamin's parents, along with Dann Pryce (West Orange)  and Kelley Blessing (North Arlington) playing multiple roles as the ensemble. 
Stage managed by Petra Seirmarco (Ringwood) and Kelley Blessing and under the innovative direction of Mac McCormick,  this production is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

About Movies Under the Stars: 
The Movies Under the Stars is the City of Hackensack’s summer film series, which started in 2015 in conjunction with the opening of the Atlantic Street Park. The series has grown from three films last summer to seven films this summer spread through the months of May, June, August and September. The events are run by the Dept. of Cultural Arts, and are completely free, all that is needed is a blanket or lawn chair. Concessions will also be available for purchase.
