Recreation and Culture

General Information

The Hackensack Recreation Department provides a range of programs for a variety of interests. Throughout the year special events are scheduled including magic shows, parties, and other recreational activities. The Recreation Department prepares a flyer for each season, which includes the fees and times of the programs. For the latest available

Registration for all programs takes place at the Recreation Department office. Space in some programs is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Late registrations are not accepted. Registration for most programs is accepted through the mail.

Park Permits

To reserve a park or baseball/softball diamond, call the Recreation Department. Permits are issued on an available basis for a fee. Permits are issued to City residents and to businesses that are based in Hackensack. It is recommended that a request for a permit be made at least two weeks in advance of anticipated use. Selected fields in Foschini Park are not available until the end of June.

Jr. Sport Programs

The following Jr. Sport programs are offered to children who live in Hackensack. Costs for each sport vary. Volunteer coaches are always needed and appreciated for all sports. The success of the Jr. Sport programs is shown by the success of the Hackensack High School teams. Most of these athletes have gone through the Hackensack Jr. Sport programs.
