The Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI)
The Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI) - Is charged with the issuance, inspection, suspension and revocation of licenses and permits, which come within the jurisdiction of the Department of Police. Among these are permits and licenses for taxi drivers, bartenders, landscapers, canvassing, second-hand jewelry sales, vending and towing. The division also processes requests for the State of NJ Firearms Identification and permits.
The Division maintains all records of the Police Department, including all reports filed, local arrest records, as well as fingerprint and photographs of persons arrested as required by law. Officers assigned to the division assist the other divisions by photographing crime scenes and serious motor vehicle accidents.

The division also operates the Community Access Center. This office, located on the first floor of Police Headquarters has convenient hours of operation for the public to have access to apply for licenses or permits or to pick up copies of reports.
